New York Lottery Urges Players To Check Mega Millions tickets For $250,000 2nd Prize  
 
 

Lottery Ready To Pay $6.5 Million To 26 Second Prize Ticket Holders Statewide

March 5, 2009-Schenectady, NY - The New York Lottery is encouraging players who purchased a Mega Millions ticket during the most recent jackpot roll up which culminated in Tuesday’s drawing for $212 million to check those tickets closely as they may be worth up to $250,000.

“Our records show there were 26 second-prize winning Mega Millions tickets sold in New York during the Mega Millions roll up that began January 16, 2009, including five from last night’s drawing alone,” said New York Lottery Director Gordon Medenica. “Each of those second-place prizes is worth $250,000 to the lucky ticket holder.”

The list of retail locations where the 26 second-prize winning tickets were sold includes:

Mega Millions second-prize ticket holders may claim their prize at one of 15 Lottery Customer Service Centers statewide. Prizes of $600 or less may be collected at any one of the Lottery’s 16,000 retail locations statewide.

The New York Lottery contributed nearly $2.6 billion in fiscal year 2007-08 to help support education in New York State, over 13 percent of total state education funding to local school districts. The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, earning over $34.2 billion in education support statewide since its founding over 40 years ago.
